What a selfish cunt. You're gonna to have to try to lick your own balls now. Inconvenient.

Sorry to hear that, MPI.

As a tribute, surely now is the time for a black lab icon.

Lily... never excuse to get a dog because you might go on holiday once a year!! We've had our dog 12 years and think we have fucked off to the US in about 10 of those years... plenty of people to either house/dog sit or failing that paying someone to look after him...

Re: Crimes against Iconography...Black Lab Icon
Oh shit news MPI... the hairy smelly bastards are never around long enough...

Our Black Lab is the last alive from his litter... 12.5 years old now... just back from a 2.5 miler... he still manages but it takes a lot lot longer... we know we are on borrowed time with him but apart from a bit of dementia and long tern arthritis that has been brilliant managed by CBD ganja juice he's pretty stable at the moment ... but we know the day will come in the not too distant future that we will have to make the right decision just like we have had to do with previous dogs (Collie, German shep and Golden Retriever)... it's the one thing we can do is give them a dignified way out.

Can't imagine the place without him but can't imagine a dog not being in our families life... so once he's gone we will get another one ... each one is special

RIP Max

We have had a chocolate Lab called Fudge and two Black Labs called Prince and Max ironically. I know the awful feeling when they ain't there any more God bless them.

We had to say goodbye to one of our Cats called Harvey in October last year on his birthday he was five years old broke my Daughters heart and had me welling up to.

Then it's up to you to decide when it's safe to start leaving your laptop open with Google Images "Black Lab Puppies" search results on the screen.

I just had a look and nearly want to get one myself.

Not quite so good.

Surpringly, some species (clown barbs, particularly) do watch television.

I expect it's just meaningless flashing lights to them, though.

Never been a problem, we have family locally who are all dog people in fact they would argue over who got to have him.

Tato, my Boxer Rottweiler cross had kidney failure end of Nov. and died 1st Dec. Incredible how quickly he deteriorated. Apparently nothing could be done for him. He was only 9 years 7 months old. Really cut me up, makes me sad to write this. Weird, how much they mean to you.

geep,

I can see some upsides. How are they with walks around the park, pausing at the top of the hill to watch the Sunrise?

Re: Crimes against Iconography...Black Lab Icon
Not getting a dog until I retire, as I don't like leaving them on their own too long, too often.

Got tropical fish instead - they don't give a fuck if I'm not there, so long as they get their food.

Also, when they snuff it, the grief is strictly limited, as it's just one in dozens. And their tankmates give a lead in that too, as they don't give a fuck about that, either.

In general. A kribensis appeared to be upset when her mate died. For all of a minute.

Re: Crimes against Iconography...Black Lab Icon
One of the more positive reasons for not replacing a dog straight away is to take advantage of being able to go on long desired holiday abroad without worrying about them, but that's fucked until......whenever this Corona crap is finished.

If the dog owning life was never a chore, then maybe it should be like royalty, no hanging about: The lab is dead, long live the lab!

Re: Crimes against Iconography...Black Lab Icon
Kenzo,

That's where I am, Mrs isn't yet. Got to wait for her. In the meantime I say in bed for 30 minutes then decided that if the black nose wasn't going to get me out over the park, I would go anyway. Took some treats, met the regulars and got the cuddles from the dogs that my family and friends cant give.

We have made friends with quite a few over the years, I hadn't realised until this morning.

I hope she gets there too.

Go straight out and get a rescue dog, it will help fill the big void your dog has left.

Re: Crimes against Iconography...Black Lab Icon
Thanks gents, made me tear up but in a good way.

Was mercifully short from symptoms (stiffness before Christmas, limp over Christmas and New Year, lame on Thursday when we got the diagnosis and they told us it would be weeks not months.

Mrs Moncs and I have been sleeping on the sofa downstairs as he couldn't make it up to his usual spot at her side of the bed and he had a tap for an arse. (3g grass defending came from that ;-) )

We took him home dosed up, hoping to have the weekend with him and he had a peaceful night but lay whining and not active next morning, so relieved he told me it was time.

Mrs M is inconsolable, If I am honest she was top dog, took him to training classes and put the early work in, I just hope she doesn't realise what a boring cunt I am without Max around to distract her from the fact ;-)
